UNC uncirculated condition.
Many modern notes have a security thread that may show some bubbling, or a dimple, at the top of the note at the strip. In the printing process, when the notes are run through high speed counters, a dimple is created where the strip is on the top of the note
(sometimes called a counting tick)
. This does not disqualify the note as UNC.
Note on condition: I received these banknotes directly from the Central Bank of Samoa in Apia. No middleman. These notes have never been circulated. The OPTIKS security threads made by De La Rue on the 50- and 100-
Tālā notes are very wide and have a transparent window. The nature of embedding a polypropylene thread into a paper substrate creates a curling effect where these banknotes are not crisp like other UNC paper notes without the Optiks feature. I can assure you these notes are pristine, and came direct from the Central Bank of Samoa.
Description
Front:  Symbolizing political and economic maturity and stability, the front features the government building at Matagialalua in Apia, completed in 1994. To the right of the Government complex depiction can be seen De La Rue’s Optiks security thread which has a see-through window in the form of a transparent shield.
